Ian is a Special Counsel in our family law team and boasts a proven track record of assisting clients requiring guidance and advice.

For those dealing with the confusing and taxing fallout arising from relationship breakdowns, Ian is a trusted and valuable advisor.

Ian’s clients benefit from his approachable style and practical perspective towards complex and often emotional family law matters.

He has a wealth of experience in parenting matters where his empathetic but direct manner is ideally suited to outcomes focused squarely on the best interests of children.

He also regularly assists his clients in negotiating property settlements and guiding them through the process of separation including drafting Binding Financial Agreements and Applications for Consent Orders in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

People in the early stages of a relationship looking to protect their assets by way of a (pre-nuptial) Financial Agreement also regularly call upon Ian for his expertise.

Whilst Ian strives to deliver outcomes that avoid protracted disputes, he regularly appears on behalf of clients in contested matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and is an experienced and persuasive advocate.

Ian also advises on intervention order matters under the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (Vic) and the Personal Safety Intervention Orders Act 2010 (Vic) and frequently appears at Court on behalf of his clients.
